Long name, simple concept. The RosettaNet community
believes in the power of a standards-enabled supply chain. Members of the community also realize
that one trading relationship may be very different than another, and that requirements among
trading partners can be wildly different based on specific information needs. RosettaNet PIPs allow
trading partners to maintain their existing internal business processes while passing standardized
information back and forth that allow the processing of transactions or the movement of
information. Although the format and transmission of the information may be in a standard format,
individual companies may need more, less, or different information than its peers. A RosettaNet PIP
is designed by industry resources to incorporate as many relevant data fields as possible in order
to accommodate the various needs of the extended community. This includes many fields that also
cross industries. As an open standard, RosettaNet PIPs are designed collaboratively with other
Standards Development Organizations and are built for the long haul including as many
specifications that are available in other worldwide standards bodies. It is not expected that
every data field will be used every time, but they are there if needed!
This TPIR-PIP Creation Service will allow users to “constrain” a RosettaNet XML schema PIP,
that is, it will shrink the number of required fields necessary to support a particular transaction
or information request between two trading partners. This service will save you time and money as

Nothing remains the same. Change is constant. Trading
relationships between companies are not exempt from these simple facts. If you are using a “
constrained” PIP to connect with a trading partner and requirements change or new information needs
to be introduced and transferred, RosettaNet can amend a constrained PIP to incorporate new
required fields, remove outdated fields, or make other minor changes to the TPIR –PIP. Please note
that changes that account for more than 25% of the specification will be considered a new TPIR –
PIP, and the fee schedule for a new TPIR – PIP will apply. This service will save you time and
