Q. What is the difference between a RosettaNet Ready badge and the eBusinessReady certification seal?

A. RosettaNet Ready is the legacy program for RosettaNet software compliance testing. Software products tested compliant under this program were designated by the RosettaNet Ready badge. Beginning in October 2004, compliance testing and certification is offered through eBusinessReady, an industry-neutral software testing program. This new certification program continues the original vision of the RosettaNet Ready initiative to accelerate development and implementation of RosettaNet standards, and expands it to a broader market scope. Software products tested compliant under the new program are designated by the eBusinessReady “certified software” seal. RosettaNet Ready and eBusinessReady compliance certifications are both endorsed and recognized by RosettaNet.

Q. What is included in the eBusinessReady Software Compliance Testing and Certification Program?

A. This program includes a RosettaNet Self-Test Kit, RosettaNet-developed compliance test scripts and opportunities to earn RNIF 2.0 or PIP ^® software compliance   certification seals. Seals are awarded by RNIF version or PIP version and software platform version.

Q. What are the costs for this testing?
A. The eBusinessReady Software Compliance Testing and Certification Program has an individual testing purchase price, or "unlimited" testing purchase price. Unlimited testing purchases are good for one year.

Q. What is a compliance badge or certification seal?
A. A compliance badge or certification seal is a small graphic which indicates that a solution provider's software solution meets testing requirements for v2.0 of the RNIF and specific versions of PIPs and have certified their software as RosettaNet standards compliant. It can be used on solution provider websites and product packaging to help market the solution's adherence to RosettaNet standards.

Q. Is RosettaNet the sole authority for issuing software compliance certification?
A. Yes. RosettaNet has contracted with a neutral third party vendor to provide software compliance testing services. Once a software solution has passed this test, results are passed onto RosettaNet for approval of issuance of the software certification seal. All certification recipients will be listed on the RosettaNet Software Compliance Center website. The Compliance Center will list all solution provider software solutions for verification purposes.

Q. How will RosettaNet announce companies that have obtained software compliance certification?
A. Companies that have obtained software compliance certification will be listed on the RosettaNet website in the RosettaNet Software Compliance Center and in the UCC Solution Partner Program sections. Those companies that have completed testing and certification through the new program, eBusinessReady, will also be listed on the eBusinessReady website. Additionally, certification recipients will be announced in standard RosettaNet communications to its members.

Q. What do the certification seals look like and how can they be used for promotion?
A. RosettaNet Ready badges are small graphics that say either "RNIF 2.0 Compliant" or "PIP Compliant". eBusinessReady “certified software” seals are small graphics, which list the Global Service Relation Number (GSRN) specific for the RNIF or PIP tested. Companies may use these seals for product marketing purposes.

Q. Are there legal guidelines a company must follow when displaying certification seals or testing information?
A. Use of the RosettaNet Ready™ and eBusinessReady ^® logo implies that the software solution has met the specified RNIF and PIP compliance requirements as mandated by RosettaNet. Companies seeking to verify any claims of RosettaNet standards compliant solution providers should visit the RosettaNet Software Compliance Center website. The RosettaNet Ready logo is a trademark of RosettaNet and must not be used without its express permission. The eBusinessReady logo is a trademark of the Uniform Code Council, Inc. ^® (UCC ^®) and must not be used without its express permission.

Q. Do you need to be a RosettaNet member to qualify for software compliance   certification?
A. No. A company does not need to be a member of RosettaNet.

Q. How will the certification seals be issued?
A. Upon passing software compliance testing, RosettaNet will approve issuance by eBusinessReady   of the software compliance certification seal(s) and list the company's software solution on the RosettaNet Software Compliance Center website page. eBusinessReady will also list the company and software solution, along with the test report on the eBusinessReady website upon this approval.

Q. Can compliance certification seal be earned through validation team participation?
A. No, companies must purchase software compliance testing and test their software solution's compliance with RosettaNet standards through the designated third party test administrator, eBusinessReady.  

Q. Is software compliance testing and certification an interoperability indicator? Does it guarantee anything?
A. The software compliance certification measures software compliance with specific versions of RNIF and PIPs. It is a first step toward measuring software interoperability.

Q. Does software compliance testing and certification ensure the proper use of the RosettaNet technical dictionaries?
A. No, it does not. This is currently not a component of the RosettaNet Software Compliance testing process. The program only tests the PIP and associated messages. It does not contain any kind of back-end software or solution testing.

Q. Will software compliance certification be monitored by RosettaNet for misuse?
A.   RosettaNet will monitor use of RosettaNet Ready badges and eBusinessReady seals and claims to prevent misuse.

Q. What is a Compliance Service Provider and what responsibilities does it have?
A. A compliance service provider is a neutral third-party that verifies whether a software solution has passed compliance testing for RosettaNet standards using RosettaNet-defined testing tools and methodology.

Q. Will compliance service providers' responsibilities be the same across regions?
A. Yes.

Q. Is there any expiration for the certification itself?
A. Because certification reflects the measurement of a specific products’ support of a specific RosettaNet standard, this measurement does not expire. However, users should note that as new versions of standards are released and new versions of software provider products are released, a certification test measurement does not apply to these new changes, but only the versions tested.

Q. If my company's software product is certified, how can my company demonstrate it to its customer?   Can my company say it is "eBusinessReady" in its documentation?
A. Once a software compliance test is performed and passed, and the solution provider is awarded a certification seal by eBusinessReady, companies will receive the right to use the eBusinessReady certification seal and will be provided with usage guidelines. 

Q. Does my company get another certification seal if it releases a maintenance version of software that already has been certified?
A. Any major version upgrade will need to be re-tested. The advantage of purchasing unlimited access allows companies the flexibility to re-test when new versions of software are released.
