RosettaNet Appoints Executive Director to Lead Consortium's Semiconductor Manufacturing Board Activities

RosettaNet, the leader in global e-business process standards, today announced the appointment of Tim Lavelle as executive director of the consortium's newly formed Semiconductor Manufacturing (SM) Board. Lavelle, a 20-year veteran of the semiconductor and electronic components industries, will report directly to Jennifer Hamilton, chief executive officer of RosettaNet, and will work closely with members of the organization's leadership team and SM supply chain board.

In this key role, Lavelle will be responsible for directing a broad range of activities, including the development, adoption and implementation of open e-business process standards that address the immediate needs of the global SM industry. In addition, Lavelle will lead ongoing recruitment efforts and overall management responsibilities for the SM Board.

Prior to joining RosettaNet, Lavelle was vice president of business development and product marketing at FastParts.com, a web-based trading exchange and auction venue for semiconductors and electronic components. Lavelle also served as vice president of sales and marketing at NetBuy Corporation (now eChips, Inc.) where he was a founding member of the management team that launched one of the industry's first eMarketplaces focused on the electronic components supply chain.

Previously, Lavelle held sales and marketing management positions with National Semiconductor, Chrontel, and Yamaha and worked as an independent manufacturers' representative for a variety of companies including Advanced Micro Devices, Dallas Semi, Unitrode, AMI, and Vitesse Semiconductor.

The RosettaNet SM Board, formed in October 2000 by companies involved in wafer fabrication, fabless design, assembly, integrated device manufacturing and materials, is the third managing board to be launched since the organization began developing open e-business standards in 1998.

To date, members of RosettaNet's SM Board include Agilent Technologies, Air Products & Chemicals, Amkor Technology, Applied Materials, ASE, Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing, Intel, JSR, Lucent Technologies, Micron Technology, Motorola, National Semiconductor, NEC Corporation, Philips Semiconductors, Samsung Electronics, Shin-Etsu Handoutai, Shinko Electric Industries, Siliconware Precision Industries (SPIL), Sumitomo Bakelite, Sumitomo Metal Industries, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (TSMC), Texas Instruments, Toppan Printing, Toshiba, UMC, Windbond Electronics and Xilinx.
