RosettaNet Japan Begins Pilot Implementations of RosettaNet Standards

RosettaNet Japan and its member companies announced today full commitment to RosettaNet
standards with the launch of its pilot implementation phase.
Twenty member companies from the Information Technology (IT), Electronic Components (EC) and
Semiconductor Manufacturing (SM) industries have agreed to participate in this pilot phase. These
companies are Daiwabo Information System Co., Ltd., Fujitsu Limited, Hitachi, Ltd., IBM Japan,
Ltd., Intel K.K., Japan Aviation Electronics Industry, Limited, Kyocera Corporation, Microsoft Co.,
Ltd., Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, NEC Corporation, Nihon Unisys Ltd., NTT Communications
Corporation., Oki Electronic Industry Co., Ltd., Otuska Shokai Co., Ltd., Portal Corporation, The
Sanwa Bank Limited, SAP Japan Co., Ltd., Softbank Commerce Corporation, Sony Corporation, and
Yodobashi Camera Co., Ltd.
During the pilot implementation phase, which will conclude on 3.31.2001, RosettaNet Japan will
verify actual usage and evaluate the results of the partners' implementation projects. The outcome
of the pilot phase will provide valuable input into the continued development of global RosettaNet
standards.
RosettaNet is an independent, self-funded, non-profit consortium dedicated to the development
and deployment of standard electronic business interfaces to align processes between supply chain
partners on a global basis. More than 300 companies representing over $1 trillion in annual
information technology, electronic components and semiconductor manufacturing revenues currently
participate in RosettaNet's standards development, strategy and implementation activities. A

RosettaNet is encouraging the formation of regional organizations on a worldwide basis, to
continue RosettaNet's leadership as the de facto standard for global supply chains; RosettaNet
Japan currently has 65 member companies. There are also regional RosettaNet organizations in the
Americas, Europe, Singapore and Taiwan. RosettaNet has a comprehensive set of global activities and
is expanding to more than 400 member companies and organizations worldwide.
