RosettaNet Press Release
RosettaNet Names Chief Architect to Manage E-Business Process Standards for IT and EC Industry Supply Chains

Solution Partner webMethods Loans Technology Executive

For Release March 9, 2000

SANTA ANA, CA --

RosettaNet, the global e-business process standards consortium for the IT (information technology) and EC (electronic components) industries, Thursday announced the appointment of Mitch Shue as chief architect, with responsibilities for managing the technical knowledge center of RosettaNet e-commerce standards.

Shue is on loan from webMethods, a RosettaNet Solution Partner, where he was a principal architect in the office of the chief technical officer, responsible for research, strategy and architectural oversight. Earlier, he was the engineering manager for the server component of the webMethods B2B product line and was one of its original developers.

"The chief architect is a key member of the RosettaNet executive staff and serves as team leader in implementing our collaborative standards methodology and leveraging our partners' technical expertise," said RosettaNet CEO Jennifer Hamilton.

"In addition to being a resident technical expert, the position calls for marshaling the collective resources of all RosettaNet partners to arrive at mutually agreeable and effective standards."

Shue will direct RosettaNet technology development and provide guidance for all project teams focused on evaluating and enhancing existing and new specifications relating to partner-to-partner supply chain processes within the IT and EC industries as partners work toward the next step -- the implementation of production processes with trading partners using RosettaNet Partner Interface Process (PIP) standards.

A number of RosettaNet IT partners recently marked the "EConcert Readiness Day" milestone, having fulfilled readiness conditions and are prepared to support RosettaNet during the next phase of implementation.

According to Hamilton, Shue's appointment will help to ensure the continuing quality of the standards and he will work closely with RosettaNet Solution Partners that participate in the Design Review and Feedback teams. In addition, Shue will be responsible for leading RosettaNet's cooperative efforts with other standards groups to ensure interoperability across industries.

Shue has more than 10 years of experience in commercial software development and technical management. Prior to joining webMethods, he was responsible for developing network management, transaction processing and fraud control solutions at Transaction Network Services Inc., an international communications company specializing in transaction-oriented data services.

He is a graduate of Trinity University in Texas, where he earned a bachelor's degree in computing and information sciences.
