COLUMBUS, OH
Sterling Commerce, a leading provider of business integration
solutions, today announced that it is one of the first companies to obtain the RosettaNet PIP
(Partner Interface Processes®) 5C1 RosettaNet Ready Software Compliance Badge.
The RosettaNet Ready Software Compliance Badge signifies that an independent compliance
service provider has tested the software solution and the software is compliant with the published
RosettaNet specification PIPs. RosettaNet PIPs are open standard, system-to-system XML-based
dialogs that define e-business processes among trading partners. Sterling Commerce received the PIP
5C1 RosettaNet Ready Badge for the Gentran:Server Windows business integration software.
“RosettaNet is all about standardized electronic business processes,” said Suresh Damodaran,
Ph. D, chief technologist at RosettaNet, on-loan from Sterling Commerce. “Companies that use
proprietary connections with only a small number of trading partners are at a significant
disadvantage in today's highly collaborative business environment. The RosettaNet Ready Program
allows us to acknowledge software providers that have interoperable solutions meeting our
specifications.”
Developed with the collaboration and expertise of leading high-tech companies worldwide,
including Ingram Micro, Cisco Systems, Compaq and Hewlett-Packard, RosettaNet standards offer a
robust non-proprietary solution, encompassing data dictionaries, implementation framework, and
XML-based business message schemas and process specifications. RosettaNet drives collaborative
development and rapid deployment of Internet-based business standards, creating a common language
and open electronic business processes that provide measurable benefits and are vital to the
evolution of the global, high-technology trading network.
“Sterling Commerce fully supports the RosettaNet initiatives, including our participation in
the RosettaNet Interoperability Testing early this year,” said Sam Starr, president and CEO of
Sterling Commerce. “We realize that customers need software proven to be interoperable so they may
exchange information with an unlimited number of business partners.”
