Oracle Brings Technology Expertise, Experience To RosettaNet Solution Provider Board

Oracle’s High-Tech Clients to Benefit From Company’s Involvement With RosettaNet Consortium

For Release March 15, 2002

Redwood Shores, CA --

Oracle Corp., the world's largest enterprise software company, today announced it has joined RosettaNet’s Solution Provider Board (SP) comprised of industry-leading enterprise application and middleware developers, systems integrators, consultancies, e-service providers and infomediaries.   The primary objective of the SP Board, formed in 2001, is to drive critical development and implementation strategies in support of key RosettaNet Milestone Programs and related industry initiatives.

In this role, Oracle will bring more than 20 years of expertise and experience in the technology sector to help RosettaNet standards gain broader awareness, leading to widespread adoption and rapid implementation throughout the industry.  Oracle will also serve on RosettaNet’s Marketing Leadership Council (MLC), an entity that guides the consortium’s ongoing strategic plans and initiatives.

RosettaNet is comprised of leading information technology, electronic components and semi-conductor manufacturers and distributors working together to create open e-business process standards for the high-tech industry.

RosettaNet standards offer robust, nonproprietary solutions, represented by RosettaNet Partner Interface Processes™ (PIPs ®), RosettaNet Implementation Framework (RNIF), RosettaNet Technical Dictionary (RNTD) and the RosettaNet Business Dictionary.   These business message schemas and process specifications help drive e-business standardization, thereby enhancing and streamlining trading partner relationships.

“Enabling business-to-business integration across the supply chain is RosettaNet’s key focal point,” said Jennifer Hamilton, CEO of RosettaNet.   “To achieve this end goal, the consortium looks to the leadership derived from it’s Solution Provider Board members, such as Oracle, to help drive the industry forward in standardizing business processes for the sharing of electronic information.”

"RosettaNet standards allow Oracle’s applications to provide the maximum benefits for high-tech manufacturing companies, including flexible trading networks, increased speed in purchasing and new business opportunities,” said Jonathan Oomrigar, vice-president, high tech business solutions, Oracle Product Industries.   “By incorporating RosettaNet standards into its integrated solution, Oracle enables its customers to save time and money throughout the supply chain by optimizing the efficiencies of how companies communicate with their partners and suppliers.”

In joining the RosettaNet SP Board, Oracle demonstrates its commitment to bringing the highest level of e-business standards to its manufacturing customers.   RosettaNet PIPs are among the core components of the Oracle Ò E-Business Suite, allowing suppliers, customers and partners to seamlessly work together.   As a Partner of RosettaNet, Oracle will continue to support the development of XML-based standards and promote RosettaNet in an effort to enable high-tech companies across the trading network to communicate effortlessly in a global environment.
