Partner Press Release For Release February 26, 2002
Harrisburg, PA -- At the RosettaNet press event in Santa Clara, California, Tyco Electronics provided an update on their participation in the RosettaNet iHub Milestone Program, an initiative that allows companies to synchronize data in real-time, improving supply and demand visibility, and ultimately resulting in reduced costs and efficiencies around time-to-market. In order to meet real-world business needs, RosettaNet combined many of its key Partner Interface Processes® (PIPs®), into broad scenarios called Milestone Programs, facilitating the rapid development and deployment of RosettaNet standards. Specifically, the iHub Program supports the identification, development and implementation of a dynamic business process framework, enabling the exchange of real-time information used in day-to-day supply chain management. Tyco Electronics’ recent implementation with Cisco Systems, Inc. includes order, shipment, and product master information. The achievement of this production milestone is an important part of the overall RosettaNet implementation strategy within Tyco Electronics because it has helped to lay the foundation for what will be a series of future trading partner exchanges using these key processes. By using a standard set of PIPs® Tyco Electronics was able to successfully implement the gathering and distribution of data for cross-supply-chain visibility and decision support with a trading partner. The result of this was a reduction in cost and time to implement a dynamic business process network. In addition to Tyco Electronics and Cisco Systems Inc., 80 other suppliers to the CISCO driven "e-HUB" environment have achieved this connectivity. Tyco Electronics was among the first suppliers to achieve this strategic interface leveraging RosettaNet standards. The quantifiable result was the replacement manual business processes with RosettaNet XML-based transactions, averaging well in excess of 14,000 production transactions per month. This B2B, system-to-system exchange was accomplished with no additional cost and/or resource requirements. Mr. James Ritz, Tyco Electronics’a a a a Director of eBusiness, has served as the visionary for his corporation’s involvement with RosettaNet. "For 2002, we are planning to implement 11 new PIPs® with 12 of our strategic partners." Ritz continued, "Moving forward, Tyco Electronics will continue to demonstrate a leadership role in the industry by facilitating future RosettaNet e-business process deployments and moving toward expanding the company’s eBusiness strategy."
