Partner Press Release Global Industry Association to Serve as Liaison between E-Business Standards Development Consortium and Semiconductor Supplier Community For Release March 27, 2001
SAN JOSE -- Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI), the global industry association representing suppliers to the worldwide semiconductor manufacturing industry, today announced that it has joined RosettaNet as a Partner. RosettaNet is an independent, non-profit consortium dedicated to the collaborative development and rapid deployment of open Internet-based business standards that align processes within the global high-technology trading network. "SEMI has long participated in the collaborative development of standards that increase efficiency within the semiconductor manufacturing industry," said Stanley T. Myers, president and CEO of SEMI. "Now, supply chain and other business practices are increasingly driving toward an Internet-based communication framework. Therefore, and we are dedicated to assisting SEMI members with information resources to plan their orientation to this emerging e-business environment." Through recent focus group discussions, SEMI has determined that its membership seeks clarity and guidance on a variety of emerging supply chain management and electronic commerce issues. SEMI will provide a service to its membership by gathering and disseminating information about RosettaNet activities and serving as a vehicle for member input into its standards-setting process. Additionally, SEMI will participate as a voting member on the standards developed by the RosettaNet consortium. More than 400 companies representing over $1 trillion in annual Information Technology, Electronic Components and Semiconductor Manufacturing revenues currently participate in RosettaNet's standards development, strategy and implementation activities.
