Partner Press Release
Xilinx and Insight Synchronize Value Chain Processes with RosettaNet
For Release
October 11, 2000
SAN JOSE
Xilinx (Nasdaq: XLNX) and Insight, a Memec Company, paved the way for increasingly tight value
chain integration when they executed in production a RosettaNet Partner Interface Process (PIP)
that exchanges Xilinx's Product Catalog with Global Trade Item Numbers (GTINs).
This first RosettaNet exchange is reference data for aligning the companies' demand creation
business processes.
"Insight, as our distributor, is a shining star at demand creation," said Jane Vaillancourt,
Senior Director of World Wide Sales Operations at Xilinx. "B2B with RosettaNet will allow each
company to execute its individual best-of-class business processes, yet improve performance with
our mutual customers by synchronizing the value chain, sharing information and linking our
processes."
Greg Provenzano, President and CEO of Insight, added: "Insight and Xilinx are leading several
key initiatives to improve time to market for our customers. We can now enhance our ability to use
real-time design information to start wafers and satisfy future customer requirements with our
RosettaNet initiatives."
Xilinx implemented RosettaNet using TIBCO's (NASDAQ:TIBX) Business Connect platform. The challenge in B2B is not the
technical message exchange with the partner. The real challenge is business process alignment among
the trading partners and the B2B message integration with each company's baseline applications. The
Xilinx B2B architecture focuses on Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) to ensure repeatability
and scalability in business-to-business communications.
"We focused on implementing the B2B infrastructure that we plan to live with, both with Insight
and with our other value chain partners," said Sandy Sully, CIO at Xilinx and RosettaNet EC Board
Member. "We expect to rapidly scale this platform with additional trading partners and additional
PIPs."
Insight implemented RosettaNet using Extricity for RosettaNet.
