Partner Press Release
Arrow To Conduct RosettaNet PIP Transactions With Eight Suppliers

For Release October 10, 2000

MELVILLE

Arrow Electronics, Inc. (NYSE:ARW) was the first company to begin transacting business over the internet using RosettaNet standards with Intel Corporation earlier this year. Today, Arrow will continue its leadership role by conducting live purchasing transactions, using RosettaNet's Partner Interface Processes (PIPs), with eight of its suppliers and one of its customers.

"Today's implementations point to the continued success of the RosettaNet standards that allow for a more efficient exchange of information. By conducting business transactions with both supplier and customer communities, we have laid the foundation for improved responsiveness from end-to-end of the supply chain," said David Westmoreland, Arrow's Vice President and Chief Information Officer.

Arrow is implementing PIPs with its customer United Technologies (UTEC) and component manufacturers Intel, Hewlett-Packard, Bourns, KEMET, National Semiconductor, Toshiba, Tyco Electronics, and Motorola.

Since the launch of the RosettaNet consortium in 1998, Arrow has been working with many other industry leaders to define e-business standards for directly connecting enterprise systems over the internet. Steve Kaufman, Arrow's Chairman of the Board, has played an extremely active role with RosettaNet as a member of its executive board and as vice chairman of RosettaNet's IT and EC managing boards.

"With the implementation of RosettaNet standards, companies see first-hand the improvements in operational efficiency and reductions in process times resulting from open and common e-business processes," said Jennifer Hamilton, RosettaNet's Chief Executive Officer.
