RosettaNet Press Release
Exemplary Joins RosettaNet as Solution Partner

Innovative Direct Procurement Solution Provider to Participate in Development of Supply-Chain Transaction Standards

For Release October 10, 2000

SAN FRANCISCO

Exemplary, transforming supply-chain efficiencies with its direct-procurement solution, today announced its membership in RosettaNet. As a solution partner, the company is committed to help drive standard industry interfaces for Internet-based supply-chain transactions.

The highly complex and volatile nature of today's supply-chain environment requires innovative direct-procurement systems that can advance collaboration and information exchange among trading partners. Exemplary will soon deliver a unique, integrated direct-procurement suite that offers customers significant operational efficiencies by automating all direct-procurement processes – from planning to execution and analysis. By supporting industry transaction standards, including RosettaNet Partner Interface Processes (PIPs), Exemplary solutions will dramatically improve supply-chain efficiencies and increase the productivity of trading partners.

"In implementing RosettaNet standards, companies are able to create dynamic, flexible trading partner networks," said Jennifer Hamilton, CEO of RosettaNet. "Leveraging the global reach of the Internet, they can create new relationships as well as increase the breadth and depth of current relationships – improving quality of business for everyone involved."

"Supply-chain partners are just beginning to reap the benefits of today's e-commerce era," said Sami Cassis, Vice President of Marketing for Exemplary. "Industry standards, such as those developed by RosettaNet, coupled with advanced direct-procurement applications, promise to soon make the large scale deployment of inter-enterprise procurement systems a reality."

Exemplary, a spin-off of Hewlett-Packard (NYSE: HWP), retains ownership of a highly unique application architecture that supports the development and deployment of direct-procurement solutions at unprecedented speeds. Relying on its technology's incomparable flexibility, Exemplary is able to adapt its solutions to address customers' changing procurement requirements, providing enterprise customers with new sources of competitive advantage.

"The industry currently faces a critical need for common, non-proprietary e-business standards to efficiently manage high-volume, repetitive purchases from multiple suppliers," Cassis added. "As an up-and-coming industry innovator, Exemplary looks forward to sharing our expertise in shaping standard RosettaNet interfaces for Web-based supply-chain interactions."
