Partner Press Release
Xilinx in Production With TIBCO Software's TIB/BusinessConnect for RosettaNet
TIBCO Technology Helping Xilinx and Its Partners Streamline Their Supply Chains
For Release
October 10, 2000
PALO ALTO
TIBCO Software Inc. (NASDAQ:TIBX), a leading provider of real-time infrastructure software for
e-business, announced today that Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ:XLNX), the leading innovator of complete programmable logic
solutions, is in production with TIBCO's TIB/BusinessConnect™ for RosettaNet, enabling Xilinx to
integrate its business-to-business (B2B) processes with those of its trading partners, using the
RosettaNet e-business standards.
"The semiconductor industry is experiencing tremendous growth," said Sandy Sully, CIO for
Xilinx. "As the demand for our products and services continues to increase, we need a technology
infrastructure that can scale with our global business. TIBCO has provided us with an
industrial-strength solution to meet our scalability and time-to-market requirements."
Xilinx has been a TIBCO customer for over five years, relying on TIBCO's real-time
infrastructure software to seamlessly integrate its enterprise systems and applications. And today,
by utilizing the same TIBCO architecture, Xilinx is streamlining its supply chain. Xilinx is using
TIB/BusinessConnect for RosettaNet to implement a RosettaNet Partner Interface Process™ (PIP™) that
will provide Xilinx and its partners such as Insight Electronics, a Memec company, with a standard,
web-based process for distributing new product information.
Using standard RosettaNet PIPs will help Xilinx and its partners:
- Improve sales opportunities: the time to add new products to sales catalogs decreases and the
time to prepare for promotion and sales in the supply chain can be shortened. Buyers are notified
of new product announcements in a timely manner so they can prepare for customer orders.
- Improve customer service: collaborative forecasting and planning reduces chances of stock-outs
and improves responsiveness to customer needs.
- Reduce transaction costs: web-based requisitioning of product materials will provide
significant cost and accuracy improvements over traditional manual processes.
- Improve inventory management: the sharing of production schedules and inventory levels reduces
supply uncertainty.
- Improve product cycle time: lower inventory in the distribution channel allows for the rapid
rollout of new products, with reduced price pressure on existing goods.
- Improve capacity utilization: improved insight into demand and supply across the supply chain
will allow companies to better optimize their existing assets.
"To be successful at B2B e-commerce, enterprise application integration (EAI) is essential,"
said Fred Meyer, chief marketing officer for TIBCO Software. "Xilinx is a prime example of how
leading companies have effectively implemented TIBCO's EAI solutions and are now again turning to
TIBCO to seamlessly connect to their customers, partners and suppliers, using leading e-business
standards such as RosettaNet."
