RosettaNet Press Release
MatrixOne Joins RosettaNet To Advance Supply Chain E-Commerce

For Release May 22, 2000

CHELMSFORD

MatrixOne, Inc. (Nasdaq:MONE), a leading provider of Internet business collaboration solutions, announced today that the Company has joined the RosettaNet initiative to contribute its extensive expertise in facilitating on-line supply chain collaboration across the full spectrum of the technology product life cycle. RosettaNet is a non-profit initiative established to design and implement standards-based mechanisms for supply chain e-commerce in the Electronic Components (EC) and Information Technology (IT) industries.

The RosettaNet initiative is establishing common definitions for data and business processes, and common mechanisms for supply chain transactions, such as product information or order exchange. These important innovations will establish what RosettaNet calls the "Lingua Franca" for E-business. As a participant in the RosettaNet community, MatrixOne will incorporate the RosettaNet-defined processes seamlessly into its broad range of products and services, so that customers in the EC and IT supply chains will have a readily available source of industry-standard supply chain solutions.

"MatrixOne adds substantial value to the RosettaNet vision because our long experience in collaborative supply chain reengineering has lead to a full-spectrum approach to supply chain linking," said Paul Gilmartin, vice president of product management, MatrixOne. "We define the full spectrum as starting from raw data and accessible information, building through shared knowledge, and ultimately creating mutual solutions and business processes. For e-commerce to achieve its full potential, it must allow partners to apply their intellectual resources collaboratively to create mutual solutions and business processes in the same way our customers can today."
