Partner Press Release RosettaNet Standards to be Integral Part of e-Commerce Strategy For Release June 9, 1999 T empe, AZ -- MicroAge, a global infrastructure technology services provider, today announced it is launching an e-commerce pilot project utilizing RosettaNet's standards. The project will tie MicroAge together with partners in a virtual supply chain that will provide automated updates to a customized catalog used by clients for procuring technology products. The project was launched as part of the company's participation in eConcert, the pilot implementation team for RosettaNet standards. In addition, MicroAge announced its commitment to RosettaNet as part of its electronic commerce strategy and plans to fully implement RosettaNet standards by early 2000. "Without RosettaNet, embarking on a pilot like this would have required months of development and collaboration between the partners," said Charlie Martin, CIO, MicroAge. "Because RosettaNet has already set the stage for linking our business initiatives electronically, we can rapidly move into a pre-production pilot and later implement electronic commerce with multiple clients at an unparalleled pace." The project, which is expected to launch in pilot phase by the end of June, is part of MicroAge's continuing strategy to align its e-commerce initiatives with RosettaNet standards. RosettaNet is a consortium of technology companies committed to the development and deployment of standard electronic commerce interfaces to align the processes between IT supply chain partners. RosettaNet was first announced in June of 1998, when MicroAge joined as a founding board member. Since then, MicroAge has supported RosettaNet as a real-world solution to link independent supply chain partners. The pilot project, which will deliver daily updates to clients on new product releases, pricing, and availability, supports a customized electronic catalog that provides the client with standardized product offerings. The catalog provides information on pre-approved products the client has selected as its technology standards. Information in the catalog is then updated electronically with direct RosettaNet links to the supplier and fulfilled through RosettaNet links to MicroAge.
